‘Government Aiding Hard Drug Dealers’

May 15, 2017

‘Vancouver’s drug strategy has been a disaster. Be very wary of emulating it’:

“Last week, Edmonton city hall voted 10-1 in favour of building not just one “safe consumption” site for drugs, but four of them — all within walking distance of one another in one of the city’s lowest-income urban districts.

“The decision was made despite the fact that more than 80% of Edmonton’s fentanyl-related overdoses are occurring in the suburbs — well beyond the reach of the new facilities. The move also ignores fervent pleas from locals, who claim that approving four drug consumption sites will be a death sentence for their already-chaotic and drug-ridden neighbourhood.

“And honestly, it’s hard to see how the locals are wrong. While the strategy of harm reduction can indeed save the lives of addicts in the short term, it can destroy communities if used in isolation.

“These unhappy results can be seen a province away. Vancouver is into its second decade of dealing with an injected-drug crisis. The city has been concentrating more and more services in its Downtown Eastside. The result? Everything seems to be getting worse (more…)

‘Undermining Our Culture’

May 10, 2017

“Had to post this. I think disappointed is an understatement. This will be the first year that we don’t get gifts crafted with love from our kids, and since we only have one little one now, it makes it all that much worse. I don’t understand why we, as Canadians, need to give up our traditions that have been passed through generations. I welcome all races and ethnicities, but forcing us to give up things that are important to us as Canadians is crap. And it doesn’t even have anything to do with religion! You can’t celebrate your Mom and Dad?”

— Roy Glebe

“A school in Canada has cancelled Mother’s Day, sending students home with a note to explain why. The note, which was given to Grade One and Two students at Albert McMahon Elementary School, Mission, British Columbia, revealed the school body made a decision to not celebrate Mother’s or Father’s Day this year.

“The note explained that the decision had been made in a bid to ensure that all students, including those without traditional nuclear families, felt ‘positive’ about their own family arrangements, whatever they may entail. (more…)

‘More Left-wing Lunacy’

“Two conservative journalists have sparked outcry on social media by making what some {fanatics} have interpreted as a ‘white supremacist’ hand symbol at a recent visit to the White House.

{It’s been the symbol for ‘O.K.’ for decades. Now, it has been ‘deconstructed’ and ‘re-interpreted’ by university fools…}

“Freelance journalist Mike Cernovich and Cassandra Fairbanks, a reporter for Russian news outlet ‘Sputnik’, posed for a picture behind the podium in the White House briefing room. In the photo, they are making a hand sign that can be used to signify “white power”. {Nonsense…} (more…)

“I hold that whatever debates may be underway about the targets of Orwell’s dystopian “Nineteen Eighty-Four”, the modern university is the only institution that has taken that noble work for use as a manual.

“For where else are words turned quite upside down, flipped over to stand on their bruised heads and told to dance to the rigorous tunes of fanatics? For it is only on a university campus that simple, basic words are made by violence to take on their exact and opposite meanings: up is down, right is wrong, day is night, and anti-fascism is fascism. ‘The Intolerance of ‘Liberal’ Fundamentalists’

June 12, 2016

‘The ‘Liberal’ Blind Spot’

“CLASSIC liberalism exalted tolerance, reflected in a line often (and probably wrongly) attributed to Voltaire:

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

“On university campuses, that is sometimes updated to:

“I disapprove of what you say, so shut up.”

‘Political Correctness Ruining Canadian Cities: Victoria’

This story is unfortunately typical of the type of people that Canadians are electing these days, and the politicized judges who share their ideology. While the Victoria City Council concerns itself with tiny but vocal groups promoting ‘identity politics’, the province is trying to deal with a public safety issue affecting downtown Victoria:

‘Provincial government applies for early injunction to shut down Victoria tent city’

“The B.C. government has applied for an injunction to forcibly end the tent city on the Victoria courthouse lawn.

“In a statement, the province says it is seeking the injunction because the site is not in compliance with two fire safety orders issued in February and May.

“Based on the fire safety report, as well as concerns about site deterioration and public safety, the Province has spent the past week compiling further evidence and affidavits supporting the need to end the encampment,”

the statement from the ‘Ministry of Natural Gas Development and Responsible for Housing’ read.

“The Province is submitting 69 AFFIDAVITS that speak to the INCREASE IN CRIMINALITY and the deterioration of conditions at the site.”
