‘Little Mogadishus’

August 20, 2017

“Each time news breaks of a stabbing or shooting, she and her neighbours clench: Let it not be Somali. They dread what has become all too common, another name added to the long list of men from the community lost to violence.

So many other men I know . . . just murdered.”

“Hibaq Gelle is a second-generation Canadian whose parents fled war-ravaged Somalia in the 1980s for a better life in Canada. They settled in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke in an area dubbed ‘Little Mogadishu’, arguably the largest community of Somalis outside the African nation

“Gelle is a rare case of success in a community plagued by violence — not only in Toronto, but right across Canada. Many fled civil war in Somalia only to replace warlords with drug lords on the streets of their Canadian neighbourhoods. More than 50 young Somali Canadian men have been murdered in Ontario and Alberta in the last decade…” (more…)

‘Government Lunacy in Canada’

June 27, 2017

“Forced speech is the most extreme infringement of free speech. It puts words in the mouths of citizens and threatens to punish them if they do not comply. When speech is merely restricted, you can at least keep your thoughts to yourself. Compelled speech makes people say things with which they disagree.”

“‘Bill C-16’ received Royal Assent June 19, passing into law a little over a year after Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould introduced it in the House of Commons.

“The purpose of this legislation is to ensure that everyone can live according to their gender identity and express their gender as they choose,” said Wilson-Raybould.

“The law adds ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ to the list of prohibited grounds in the ‘Canadian Human Rights Act’ and amends the ‘Criminal Code’ to protect ‘transgender’ and “gender diverse” Canadians from ‘hate speech’…”  (more…)

‘Who’s Teaching Our Children?’

December 6, 2016

A terrorist-supporting immigrant who teaches children in Mississauga is now back in school:

“A Mississauga elementary teacher, who came under fire for remarks made at a Palestinian rally last summer, has returned to the classroom. A spokesperson for the ‘Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School’ said Nadia Shoufani returned to work at St. Catherine of Siena Separate School on Nov. 21.”

‘Hypocrisy and Climate Change’

November 22, 2016

“Why would any working Canadian leave their car at home and crowd onto a bus for the bleak commute through a wintery morning, knowing environmental evangelists think it’s fine to fly 255 Canadians to Morocco for a week in the sun?”

‘Dirty Money’

“If you want to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold coins from the ‘Royal Canadian Mint’, it’s not that hard really. Here’s how you do it. First, get a job at the Mint. Second, stick the gold coins, clinically speaking, “up your bum”. Third, walk out.

“That’s more or less how 35-year-old local Ottawa man, Leston Lawrence, allegedly did it and he tiptoed away with $180,000 in gold, the Mint thinks. They think that’s the case because they’re not actually sure how much is gone, nor are they totally sure Lawrence took it, but they’re pretty sure. And for now, that’s going to have to be enough. ‘Internet Warrior Shutting Down Free Speech’

August 24, 2016

“He wishes more people would dox hateful commenters. I asked how he would feel if he got doxxed—if other internet vigilantes can be trusted not to abuse their reach. He responded he has nothing to hide. I went to take his photo for this story, and he left the room. He returned with a bandana to cover his face.”

“All I ever want from people is to simply stop oppressing others,” Danny wrote over IM chat before I met him in person. “With belief, with privilege, or even just with online words. I want white males to accept the yoke of our horrible, terrifying track record in history.”

“The man who leaks others’ personal information did not want to be identified. As part of an agreement for an interview, I can confirm he is “from the Prairies” and “holds a lofty position at a large IT company.” In his spare time, he ‘doxxes’ people he believes are bigots. (more…)
